Slowly we are making changes to our home to make it truly ours. We made another update to the kitchen that I am excited to share with you today. We added new kitchen lights over our breakfast bar. We talked about changing out the lights, but we were not in a hurry. Then one day I was at HomeGoods and found some lights and knew they would be great as the new lights. They had three, and the price was amazing. I loaded them in my cart and took them home for Yankee to install. Well, you know how they say some things might be too good to be true? These lights and the price were too good to be true.
Here’s a peek at our new lights.
Here is one view of the old lights.
Here is a distance view of the old lights. I took this photo before we moved in. I knew I wanted to add some bigger lights and make more of a statement with our new lights.
Here is a close up of the new hammered lights. I thought they would look great, and I am thrilled with the final look. Installing them was a whole other story. Yankee has installed many lights for us including the one in our dining room, and the one in Little Miss’s room. On a recent Sunday it took him all afternoon to install just one. After lots of frustration, he called it quits and said let’s bring in the professionals.
I called our electrician, and he thought it would be a fast job. It took him two hours to install the other two lights. Let’s just say he wasn’t happy with the lights and the installation process. I guess there was a reason these lights were such a good deal.
Despite hours of frustration for Yankee and the electrician, the lights are up. I think they’re a nice modern addition to our kitchen. I found some other cool hammered pendant lights styles that are similar to ours, but they should be easier to install.

The lights are also bigger than the previous ones, and I feel they are a much better size. Yankee’s only request before I purchased new lights was that he wanted to use these light bulbs. He loves them and knew they wouldn’t look right with clear lights. So, this was a win- win.
Do you have any thing you purchased at a great deal that was too good to be true in one way or another?
Cheers!
