Hello, everyone. We have a small but useful tip for you today. I don’t like it when a home’s exterior lights are too small. I see this mistake a lot just driving through neighborhoods, and I get it. Lights look a lot bigger in a store’s display then they do when they are actually hanging on the side of the house. I think people just opt for the smaller size when they are buying lights. Or builders select lights, and they go for the smaller/cheaper option. Well, there’s actually a formula that determines the size lights on the front of your house should be, and it’s really easy.
Here’s the formula:
Measure the height of your door.
Your lights’ length should be 25 to 33 percent of that measurement.
For instance, most doors are the standard seven feet high. That’s 84 inches. The lights for an 84 inch door should be between 21 and 28 inches high.
It’s as simple as that. Hope this helps.
Take care.

That drives me crazy, too…lights that are too small flanking a front door. Thanks for the formula.
