I have good news for you today if you are a fan of George Clooney’s. Even if you aren’t a fan of his, I have good news for you. I have the recipe for his favorite pie, and oh my goodness, it is so good. Some friends and I took a road trip to Pieville this week. It was 65 miles from where I live. Pieville is really Maysville, KY, the home of the Magee’s Bakery where George’s favorite pie, “transparent pie” originated. When I took my first bite, I knew immediately why it is his fave. The little bakery was out in the country a few miles from downtown. It was really kind of in the middle of nowhere down a country road surrounded by gorgeous views. A picture of George and his wife Amal was proudly propped on a stand, and the owner said they are both very nice. Isn’t that good to know?
I did some research online and found a recipe which I have already made and am sharing with you today. It really isn’t difficult, and you probably already have most of the ingredients. It tastes exactly like the pies made by the bakery. It is very, very rich but oh, so satisfying.

Mr. Right will be home this week-end from his 10-week bicycle ride all the way across Canada. I want to have some special foods prepared for him because he has earned it. One of those special dishes will be this transparent pie (which I froze after taking the photos.) For his main course I am cooking up a big old steak, and making this and this.
We hope you all have a great week-end. Thanks so much for stopping by and spending time with us.
Take care.

Doris, yes it tastes a lot like egg custard pie. I really like custard pies and it’s probably why I’m really enjoyed this one.
