Do you remember the fixer upper? It’s the house that we remodeled for our refugee friend Bobo so that his children can spend time with him. I showed you the befores and the afters of the inside and the final results here. However, I never showed you how the outside looks now.
(before)
As a little reminder, here’s the outside before we started work on it. It’s before the new roof, the new windows, the new paint, the new door, the new porch ceiling. and the fresh porch floor.
(Before but with a new roof )
(after)
And here’s the after. Quite a difference, don’t you think? I stopped by Sunday to take a quick photo, and the thing that made me really see that it is now someone’s loved home was the garden growing in the back. I could see that Bobo has turned a huge part of his back yard into a garden, and I saw corn, potatoes, tomatoes, and more. He turned the grass into a garden without the use of a tractor. He just had his hands, his strength, his determination, a hoe and a shovel. The front will eventually get some landscaping and a tree, but for now, it’s a happy, finished home. Bobo picked the blue, by the way, and I think it looks great. I selected brown for the door because it won’t show as many smudges, but he requested that the back door be white. I don’t think it was too crazy about the brown door.
Bobo is so gracious and proud of his house, and we are so happy for him.
Take care.
