Slowly fall is happening here at our place here in beautiful Lexington, KY. Since Jordan is in the middle of moving, she will have to skip the fun of fall decorating this year, but she’s fine with that. It’s my favorite time of year, and I love to bring some nature in to celebrate the season. I always keep it simple and follow the less is more principle in our entry.
Since our foyer is somewhat teeny, it’s an easy space to decorate. All I really needed to do was buy a huge mum in a rustic basket, add a book with fall colors in it, and call it a day.
Since we have our colorful Turkish rug, whatever colors we are featuring on the marble-topped stand pop from the antique rug. So, in the spring, it looks like a spring rug, in the summer it looks like a summer rug, and right now it is flying its fall colors. If rugs can have patina, then this one has it. It is loaded with character. I would love to know its story.
I usually switch out the lamp but decided to keep this one in the area this year. It is sitting on a brass Williamsburg trivet for another layer.
This mum, complete with basket, came from a big box home improvement store. I was happy with the rustic basket and kept it.
This vintage Little Women book and a new but looks old magnifying glass add some character to the vignette.
The old set of Wedgewood plates that are always hanging on the wall need to play well with the tabletop goodies, in my opinion, and they do.

That is an amazing rug Janette. You made a great purchase there and it works all year long.
