As you all know by now, I like to change out the arrangement on the dresser in the foyer practically every month. Recently I created the Fall in the Foyer, 2016 edition. As always, I searched the house for things that have a fall vibe.
This lamp was originally a cream can, and I bought it at a farm auction years and years ago. My mother painted the can, and I used it like that for a while.
Then a few years ago I came up with the idea of converting it into a lamp. Last fall it was on a stand in the sun room, and this year it landed in the foyer. The colors are so fallish (is that a word?), and it is a great starting point for a fall vignette.
I always like to use books, because the colors of the covers are an instant way to create a foundation for the look.
I then gathered up the demi-john that I purchased at a street market in France.
I pulled out the bundle of wheat that has been with us in three houses, and it is still good. I just store it away in tissue paper every November. It is always good in a fall vignette, and it has been in quite a few.
Then I added a cute little cache pot that I won in a charity auction. Flowers from the grocery complete the look.
This is what the foyer looked like last fall.
And here is this year again. I must add that the rug was one of the best purchases I have ever made. It makes our week-end trip to Turkey so worth it.
