I am so happy that it is time to add some fall decor around our home. Since the foyer is the first spot that anyone who comes here sees, I wanted it to say, “Welcome!” Our foyer is relatively small compared to most foyers, but there’s still enough space to have a nice rug, a nice lamp, a mirror, and a dresser.
Instead of a mum or flowers, I decided to use a decorative cabbage in the foyer this year. I just put it in an old mixing bowl.
It has so much texture, and I love the subtle colors that run through it.
I pulled out a painting I did a few years ago of a fall leaf. I took a photo of a leaf on a bench when I was in Paris a few years ago and decided it would make a nice little piece of art. I purposely did not have it framed. I like the rough edges.
You might remember seeing this lamp before. It once was a cream container, and my mother painted this fall scene on it. I had it made into a lamp and had a custom shade made for it. It is perfect for this time of year.
This is what our planter look like on our front stoop. We have two of these planters, and they are both done the same way. It’s a boxwood that stays there along with a mum and a faux pumpkin. When the mum dies, I will add another one, and eventually I will plant pansies for the cool weather. I used faux pumpkins because it is so hot here that a real pumpkin wouldn’t last too long in the heat. I took this tight shot because what you can’t see in the background is that we were having our sidewalk power washed that day, and he was about to do the steps and this stoop. Just keeping it real.
Come back tomorrow to see our great room for fall. It is proof that just a few small touches can make a big impact.
Take care.
