Even though we are very much experiencing summer temperatures here in Charlotte, I wanted to have a fall porch ready for Little Miss’s birthday last week. I debated with myself, and Mom encouraged me to go ahead and buy some fall plants. I still have the Boston ferns hanging, and they were a big disappointment this summer. They grew just a little bit even though I watered them regularly. Last year our ferns were good, but this year was a big, fat downer. But ferns are not what I want to show you. Let’s take a look at our front porch decked out for fall.
Fall Plants
One morning Little Miss and I headed to Home Depot, and I just selected from the plants that were available. I kept the sweet potato vine in our planters, but I did add a Joseph’s coat, which I think is technically an indoor plant. Then I added two little mums to each planter. I bought these planters in the spring (similar here), and I hope to get years and years of use out of them in every season.
Fall Wreath
For the door, I pulled out my fall wreath and just fluffed it up a little. Here’s a similar one without the adornment.
It’s so nice to have a covered porch so that the wreaths that we use don’t get damaged by rain, wind, etc. We will add some pumpkins in a few weeks after we make our annual visit to the pumpkin patch.
Fall Pillows
We have had the green and white striped pillows on the porch all summer, so I just added two rusty orange pillows that I picked up for a few dollars. Green and orange equal fall colors.
Mom brought two large mums for the porch, but they are still in the bud stage. I think they will be pretty spectacular once they bloom.
Here’s a shot of the two of us on the porch before we headed out to afternoon tea.
We use our side porch for entering and exiting our house most of the time, and I did not want to forget it. So, I added this cute pumpkin that I bought in Atlanta a few weeks ago. Here is a similar one. These decorations will stay out until Thanksgiving. Then they will come down, and Christmas will go up. I have added a few fall things inside and will be showing you those additions soon. Have you all put out your fall decorations yet?
Cheers!
