When we moved into our house last fall, all of our energy went towards cleaning away construction dust, unpacking boxes, decorating, and making our house a home. Even though it was fall, I really didn’t have the time or energy to do much in the way of fall decor. Mind you, I like to do my seasonal decorating using things that I have to create a look, but it just wasn’t in me. This year is a different story. Although I am using a reserved approach, our home does have a fall vibe. The most recent space I want to share with you is our fall porch.
For those of you who are new here, when we bought our house, the porch was originally a breezeway between the garage and kitchen. During the major remodel that we did, the breezeway became an enclosed porch with sliders that open to our walled courtyard. The porch enters into a new family room.
It is a long and narrow space that is also the walkway between the house and garage. So, we have to keep that in mind with our furniture placement. Unfortunately, it has to be against the wall rather than floating.
The furniture is neutral, and for the summer I added pink and white gingham pillows and floral pillows so they would blend with the pink and white flowers blooming in the courtyard. For our fall porch, I replaced them with neutrals.
The rug is drab but practical. It’s an indoor/outdoor rug and has earned its keep.
I changed out the blue and white gingham lampshade to a neutral one.
Directions for the pillow are here.
We are still trying to figure out what to do with the brick floor in this room. It is in horrible condition from the construction process. Although it is subtle, we are really enjoying the fall porch decor, and I spend every spare minute out there reading, working on the blog, and enjoying life.
Take care.
