We have the best recipe for you today – especially if you love a chocolate milkshake – and specifically if you like a Wendy’s original chocolate frosty. I am going to dub this recipe a Wendy’s frosty hack because that is just what it is. I found a chocolate smoothie recipe in a Paula Deen magazine when we spent Christmas with my parents. I didn’t write down the exact ingredients, but when we came home from our holiday travels, you can bet this was the first thing I made (after a quick trip to the grocery). For all of you clean eaters, paleo diet followers, and anyone who is trying to eat healthier, this one is for you. Now, for any of you who just like to indulge in a chocolate frosty now and then, this one is for you, too. The bottom line is I think we can easily satisfy each of you who is reading this blog post right now. With just a few ingredients and a minute or two, you will have the thickest, tastiest healthy, low-cal chocolate smoothie ever.
HEALTHY, LOW-CAL CHOCOLATE SMOOTHIE
1 banana, cut into pieces and frozen
1/2 avocado
1 cup skim milk (almond, coconut, or soy milk will work)
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 package sweetener or 1 tablespoon honey (I use Splenda)
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend till smooth. If your banana isn’t frozen add 2 or 3 ice cubes to help thicken the mixture.
This healthy drink works great as lunch or as a snack. Mix some up for the kids as an after school snack. They won’t even know it’s healthy (;
All right. We have made it through the first full week of our new year. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I’m feeling fine. Hope to see you back here then for our first Saturday Selections of this year.
Take care.
I have been making a smoothie similar to this for years, but I use a scop of protein powder instead of the avacado. An excellent Hack. Thanks I will try it.
