Most of you probably know already that I have been taking art classes in oils for over two years now. My paintings are mostly based on photos that I have taken while traveling. Recently, I was painting a French scene involving an old house, a river, a bridge, and pots of flowers hanging on the bridge. I wasn’t getting the colors quite right so I went to the internet and found a painting to use as my color inspiration. However, the more I looked at that painting, the more I fell in love with it.
It was an original pallet knife oil painting of one of my favorite cities, Amsterdam. It happened to been a canal scene, and there was a bike leaning against a bridge over the canal. Plus, I loved the colors. They were so vibrant. I contacted the artist and bought it. It arrived while we were in Colombia, and I picked it up from the frame shop last week.
I love, love, love it!!! It adds so much color to our great room walls, and it is so me. And it even looks nice with Mr. Right’s Lazy Boy.
This collage gives you a close-up of the vibrant colors. And did I mention that its title is “Bicycle in Amsterdam”?
I shopped the house to come up with some items that had the same colors as the painting and also played well with the navy lamp that was already on the table.
The painting that was hanging in this spot has a new home in our upstairs hallway, and it looks so much better there. You’ll get to see it in its new spot later this week.
I’d say that is pretty perfect for your home. 🙂
That is a really lovely painting, good choice.
Wow not only is that a gorgeous painting…the theme is perfect for you!!!….Just perfect!!!
