Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I decided it was time to put a new vignette on the great room dining table. But to shake things up a little, I decided to go with a blue, rather than a red, color scheme.
It was all because of this sweet little heart shaped box. I based the entire vignette around it. It was a gift from my kiddos when they were young, and it is very dear to me.
Going with the blue and white also gave me a chance to use the new ginger jar that I recently bought.
Then I could also layer in the Hans Brinker book I like to display this time of year. I just grabbed everything else from either my decorating bin or from around the house.
I liked the patina on the silver candle holders, so I didn’t polish them. (I am not following my own advice.)
I should probably anchor everything with a tray or runner, but it’s okay with me the way it is.
The lighting wasn’t great when I took these photos. It looks much better in person.
So, let us know if you are snowed in.
Take care.

Love the blue Valentine theme…I’ve never been much in love with heart shapes or this time of year, for I always felt a pang in my heart for those without a Valentine…I was single forever it seemed…but, I do really like your little box, maybe it’s because of the color, or it’s shape is so sweet plus the story behind it makes it very special. You have pulled together just the right amount of interest and whimsy….snow is outside but only a few inches…thank goodness!
