As I mentioned in Monday’s post, I am doing minimal Christmas decorations this year because we will be traveling. However, since our kitchen already has plenty of red in it anyway, I added a little Christmas with some items I had on hand. It’s simple with just the right amount of holiday cheer.
My friend Randy gave the little Spode plate to me last year, the cow creamer was a hostess gift from Jordan, and the red and white napkins are from the wedding rehearsal party. All together, they make Christmas. By the way, I am a tradionalist and like my red and green for Christmas decorations.
This red pail holds the kitchen utensils every day. I paired it with a holiday plate (a hostess gift), a teeny tin, a red and green dish towel ( a hostess gift), and the pine cone to make another vignette by the stove.
I made this MERRY sign last year. It sits on the hutch with red candle holders that started out black. Again the greenery adds to the look.
Jordan’s friend Anna gave me this sweet kitchen towel as a hostess gift. Wow!!! My friends pick out great hostess gifts. It hangs on the towel bar with some red and white towels I bought at a street market while bicycling in France.
The kitchen table and bench were the last spots to get some red and green.
My mother, the quilter, gave me this table runner that she made several years ago. It comes out every year.
I made this paisley pillow for Christmas and won the comfy throw in my exercise class.
So, with just a little effort and time, the kitchen looks as if there is a holiday coming up soon. Now it’s time to start packing for our trip!!!
Take care.
