Jordan is traveling for work this week, and I am in charge of the blog. After all, it’s the least I can do since she took care of it for almost a month when we took our last trip. Even though we shared our Houzz Ideabook this week that was loaded with great hostess gift suggestions, I prefer to make the hostess gifts that I give. Sometimes I take homemade granola and muffins so the host and hostess will have a delicious breakfast all ready for the next morning. Sometimes we take a bottle of Heitz wine. (There’s a Heitz wine cellar in California that makes excellent wine. Unfortunately, we aren’t related to them, but we did visit their winery and meet them.) This year I am taking homemade apple butter that I made in the slow cooker yesterday. You can find the recipe that I use here. If we are invited to your house, then you know what you are getting.
We are curious. Please let us know what you like to give/take as hostess gifts. Do you like to make them or buy them? Maybe we can get some new ideas.

Here are a few suggestions:
** a soap or lotion from Bath & Body Works
**holiday dish towel
** “real” vanilla for your baking friends
**homemade fudge
**even store-bought candy is nice if you put it in a candy dish (Dollar Tree has nice ones for a buck)
**one or two holiday mugs…these also make nice containers for candy
**seasonal scented candle (pine, cinnamon, pumpkin)
**flavored coffees or teas…these also pair well with holiday mugs
**a small poinsettia or Christmas cactus plant
Hope these ideas help…Merry Christmas
