We love taking a little somethin’ somethin’ when we are invited to a party. It’s such a nice way to let our host(s) know that we appreciate being included in their special function – be it a party, dinner, cocktails, or tea. I like to take something homemade, like a jar of apple butter, some homemade granola, or even some peanut butter fudge. But when time is a factor, a bottle of wine is always easy and appreciated. Making that bottle of wine a little more personal is also a nice gesture, and we have a simple DIY that will make the hostess gift a tad more special. It’s a cork bottle stopper, and it takes about two minutes to make.
When I was in Belgium in October, I spotted some little cork wine stoppers that had a cute holiday thingy on the top. Jordan and I decided that they would be so easy to make and would be the perfect accompaniment to a bottle of wine. This is how you make them.
When you are in a craft store, buy a few little holiday-related trinkets that are light-weight and small. (This snowman was attached to a spring which I removed.) Also, buy some corks that will fit into a bottle of wine.
Then, all you need to do is heat up your glue gun, and attach the trinket to the top of the cork. That’s it. You are finished.
If there is ever an unfinished bottle of wine over the holidays, they can just put a cork in it, thanks to you.
