We have another quick project for you today that is fast, easy, and cute. It is a DIY wine bottle stopper. If you pair it with a bottle of wine, then you have a great hostess gift. It’s as easy as the DIY French matches we shared with you last week. When we are invited to a party or to a dinner at a friend’s house, we like to take a hostess gift. There is a California wine that has the same name as our last name, and so, we like to take that particular brand of wine. (Unfortunately, we are not related.) This little wine stopper and one of those bottles of wine make a simple hostess gift a little more special. I’ve been told that you shouldn’t really save a bottle of wine that isn’t completely consumed after it is opened. However, there’s nothing wrong with using it for cooking. This bottle stopper will make it more attractive while it is “on hold.”
Making this cute stopper is easy peasy.
This is what you need:
– A door or drawer pull
– A headless screw
– A wine bottle cork
You can find a cute drawer pull at a big box store or a craft store. Then you need to get a screw that doesn’t have a cap or head on it. I found mine at my locally owned hardware store. Either buy a new bottle cork or use one left over from another bottle of wine.
The first step is to twist the screw into the pull.
Then find the center of the cork and mark it.
Then just screw the pull into the cork.
That’s all there is to it. Easy peasy just like I said.
You can even color-coordinate the stopper to your hostess’s colors.
If DIY isn’t your thing, then you might want to consider buying these cute cork candles for a hostess gift. I love the ones we own.
Thanks you so much for stopping in. We hope to see you back here tomorrow.
Take care.
