After painting our guest room a fresh new color in the late summer, I really didn’t want to make a lot of changes to it for the fall/winter months. I was really happy with the way it was looking.
But with November right around the corner, I pulled out the bow tie quilt that my mother made for me. For those of you who are new here, she started the quilt when I was in college. Mother made most of my clothes when I was growing up and even some after we were married. The special thing about this quilt is that she used remnants from many of my dress fabrics in it. It’s like a walk down memory lane. I can find Easter dresses, Christmas dresses, party dresses, and even dresses that my mother wore.
We took a big car trip/vacation every summer, and she always made a dress to wear on the first day of vacation. Some of those fabrics are in the quilt, too. I just love that. I always teased her that I didn’t think she would ever finish it, but eventually she did. She also made quilts for all of her grandkids.
It is so colorful and makes picking out pillows easy.
I pulled out these Euro sized pillows that I made.
Even though the overall look is light, the deep colors in the quilt and the deep red pillows make it really feel more fall/winter that spring summer in here.
Thanks so much for stopping in.

Your quilt is beautiful. I have a quilt that my grandmother made and she used my mother’s old dresses from when she was a child. I love it. The quilt is now close to 80 years old. Have you seen the wonderful quilts in UK’s Young library? Beautiful old quilts from around the state. Daughter is lucky enough to have one on display in her office too.
I am not sure I have seen a bow tie pattern before. I really like it.
