A while back, we gave you a tour of our guest room, and in that post I said we would give you another look when the headboards were installed. Well, that day is today. Mom and I like to visit the local Restore when she visits Charlotte. When we were there this summer, we spotted two twin headboards in the clearance area. They were a nice solid maple and were in excellent condition. And if that isn’t enough, the two of them together were only $10.00. Yes, you read that right…..just 10 bucks. We bought those babies faster than you can say, “headboards”. They sat in the garage for a while because the weather was just too darned hot and humid to paint them. Finally, the weather cooperated, and Yankee and I were able to get them painted. We are happy that we now have headboards in the guest room, and I am so happy to show them to you.
I decided to go with black because I wanted to work with the black and white geometric rug that I love. It adds some extra pop to the pastel room and the old quilts.
This is the room before we added the headboards.
I still plan to install a window treatment, but at this point, I am undecided about what to do. We already have shades for privacy, but I think some type of curtain will add some softness.
The headboards also pull out the black in the pillows and quilts. I love that. Although it isn’t quite finished yet, progress is definitely being made in this room, and our guests always get a good night’s sleep. And after all, that’s what it is all about.
Thank you all so much for stopping in. We probably don’t say that enough, but we really appreciate you.

Love the room. Could you please tell me where you got the striped pillows?
Thanks

Cindi,
Those are pillow covers I purchased from Ikea a couple years ago. Hopefully they still have them.

Can you tell me which Restore you went too? I live in Charlotte too but the one that I go to is very high on their prices. Thank you very much.

Patty, it’s the one across the street from Home Depot on Wendover. Yes, we think their prices can be on the high side, but we have also found some really good bargains – an armoire that we converted to a bar, a great island for our kitchen, a lamp that Mom redid, and Pottery Barn play table and chairs for Little Miss.
