There’s a corner in our kitchen that often gets neglected. Sometimes I have a silver teapot lamp sitting there, but I felt it needed to be freshened up.
First, I used a tray that I wrote about here as the base for a new vignette. Then I shopped the house for items with color, texture, and interest.
A Spode plate I bought on a trip to England adds the blue and white I love, and the cow creamer was a gift from Jordan.
The demi-john adds great texture, and the plant has been all over the house. It sits in a mercury glass container. One of my colorful abstract paintings ties everything together.
I have a bunch of these old and chippy wooden spools. The yellow one was put to work here.
Here is a close-up of the abstract. I love how the colors turned out. I think it measures 11 x 14 inches. I made it at the same time I made a big contemporary painting (here).
The corner really is a lot brighter now.
It has come to life.

What a pretty corner. Love the colors in the artwork.
