Farm Store Vignette

By Janette | Decorating

Who knew you could make an adorable tabletop vignette with items from the local farm store?  I would have been a doubter, but since I’m the one who put it together, I’m now a believer.  Last week when I visited my parents, my brother and I spent a morning together.  We visited the town where we grew up, and I put in a request to stop at the local farm store.  I told him that part of being a successful blogger is being able to use ordinary things in interesting ways.  He replied, “You mean, like stirring soup with a fly swatter”?  Not exactly, but hmmmmm, I might think about that…..

When I shopped at the farm store, I had no idea what I would find.  After browsing the aisles, I found three things that struck my fancy.  One was a tin pan that might be used to hold feed.  I thought it had great potential as a tray.  Another is a whisking broom for texture, and the last item was an egg bucket.

The feeder became the perfect vessel to hold the broom, a vase of flowers from my courtyard garden, and the egg bucket which could hold some fresh peaches.

Isn’t that egg bucket the cutest thing?  It satisfies my craving for red in the kitchen.  It will probably be a very versatile accessory that will pop up in many places around the house.  It can hold rolled up hand towels in the bath, wooden kitchen utensils in the kitchen, or a plant in the great room.

To bring in the navy from my freshly painted bench, I added a stack of assorted blue and white plates.

For more interest and texture, I folded up some dish towels.  Do any of you own these towels?  I found them on Amazon (here) when I needed some practical new dish towels.  They are so cute, and I have used them as napkins and place mats, too.  They came in bulk and were priced very reasonably.  I topped them off with some French matches.

The vignette is loaded with textures, colors, and finishes.  The broom adds roughness, and the silver candleholder adds some unexpected elegance.

All three of the items combined came in at under $10.00, and the possibilities are endless.  They turned out to be a great foundation for a cute centerpiece.

I bet most of you live within driving distance of a farm store.  Why don’t you check it out and see what creative ideas you come up with?

Thank you all so much for stopping in today.  We really appreciate it.

Take care.
