New French Style Vignette

Last week when I was adding color to the hutch (here), I decided it was a good time to add a new vignette to the hutch’s counter top.  I went to my stash, pulled out some cute items, and got creative.

 

 

This is what I came up with.  Now let me tell you about it.

 

First, I grabbed my passport tray that I told you about here.  Then I added in a bunch of delicious smelling lavendar from my mother‘s garden and tied it up with a cute ribbon.

 

It’s my favorite fragrance in the whole entire world, and this bunch is special since my mother grew it.  She has quite the green thumb.

 

 

Then I added an old kitchen scale that I bought years ago at my grandfather’s estate auction.

 

 

Doesn’t it have great patina?

 

Next came these great old milk bottles that I also bought at Grandad’s auction.  They are also great for holding a bunch of sunflowers in the late summer.

 

Then I topped it all off with this little basket made by……you guessed it…..my mother.  You can see some other handiwork of hers here, here, and here.

 

When I was cleaning up and organizing my craft room last week, I applied some chalkboard paint to this random board and after just two coats, I had a mini-sign.  Adding the French phrase Bon Appetit was the first thing that came to my mind.  It fits in with the French grocery list in another part of the room (here).

 

With very little effort and zero dollars, I came up with a whole new look.  I love shopping the house.
