Greetings!! We have written before here on the blog about the type of souvenirs we like to bring home when we travel. Actually, the word souvenir just doesn’t work. We bring home keepsakes that can fit into our daily lives and remind us of the places we have been. I have shared some of our finds here, here, and here.
Pillow tops are always a welcome find. They are light-weight, foldable, and nonbreakable. I realized recently that you haven’t seen the pillows that we bought on this year’s trip to Burma (here). That brightly colored graphic pillow in silk was the perfect find for me, and here’s why:
First of all, the pattern reminded me of a log cabin quilt pattern, and you know we like quilts (here). I loved the jewel tones which fit in well with our color scheme and also fit in nicely with the Jim Thompson silk pillow tops we bought a few years ago in Thailand.
I always pull them out this time of year because the tulips are perfect for spring. And by the way, a few weeks ago, I blogged about my intention to paint this bench pure white. The Lone Rearranger, who is also my friend Beth, was here Monday. She says the problem is not the colors in Lulubelle’s background. No, the problem is that the painting needs to be raised about six inches. You can read that blog post here to see what I am talking about. Now, let’s get back to pillows.
The second pillow I bought in Burma is this ikat silk number with the toggle closing. And by the way, yes, I was too lazy to iron it.
We actually had the chance to go to the shop where the fabric was being woven and then made into pillow cases. It was a thrill to communicate with them even though we didn’t know each other’s language. A smile and a nod will go a long way.
It is on the foyer bench, and every time I look at it, I think of the experiences we had in Burma.

Take care.

I love to bring back items from our travels that will fit into our decor and pillow tops are a great idea (I’ve done it a couple of times, but to be honest I’ve forgotten about it – next time!!!) I also love to bring back posters or small paintings that can be rolled up in a shipping tube & tucked into the luggage. Thanks for the reminder. Looks like those pillow tops are the perfect choices to brighten up your spaces!

I love changing the pillow covers on my throw pillows. You really have some fabulous pillows for your home. WOW! It makes me want to find some new ones, too. I’m ready for a change!
