I love gingham, anything gingham. It doesn’t matter what color it is, how large or small it is, or if it’s old or new. I love it.
But after looking at this adorable container on one of my fall tablescapes for the past few days, I decided something had to change. It was just too summer looking to read fall. The sunflower didn’t bother me because its colors are the same as fall mums, but the red gingham reminded me of a summer picnic. Not to worry though ’cause I have two of them.
In just about ten minutes I had pulled out some brown acrylic paint from my stash and applied two coats with a sponge brush. The decoration made spraying it not possible.
The brown brings out the browns in the flower’s background. I didn’t even notice those colors hiding there behind the bee before. See how nicely it matches the little covered dish I won at a silent auction.
This arrangement is on an old and beautiful walnut dresser (here) that sits at the top of our stairs. The carrara marble top fits in with the rest of the marble (here) in our house.
I didn’t realize until I was taking photos that there is a sweet little butterfly that goes along with the bumblebee.
This is the head-on shot. That big round spot of brightness you see in the mirror’s reflection is our solar-tube that lights up the entire upstairs hallway.
Another view.
LOVE your walnut dresser…gorgeous!!! Sweet tabletop decor too!

That was a great transformation & could probably continue to work for other seasons as well. Your tablescape is lovely.
Inspirational post as always! Beautiful photography.
Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
Oh what a difference that paint made. It all looks so pretty!
How smart of you to paint that container. It turned out great, and your container from the silent auction is gorgeous. This vignette and that dresser it is on are beautiful. laurie
