I didn’t sleep much last night. There’s excitement in the air. Tonight I am the third part of a three-part progressive dinner that is taking place on the street where we live for an organization I am involved in. We have 60 plus people coming. (I am not saying the exact number because Mr. Right doesn’t know. After he reads this blog entry, he will probably ask for more info. I’m hesitant to tell him the exact number. That’s where the sixty plus comes in.) I am making all of the desserts to satisfy my tendency to be a control freak. Oh yeah, and I like to bake.
I mentioned here before that I have a Christmas plaid thing going on here this year. A little old-fashioned and a little retro make me happy. I needed another container for one of our pointsettias, and so I had an idea.
I had some plaid wrapping paper left over from this project, and so I put it to use.
First, I traced the sunflower circle from my gingham container, which, by the way, is the first purchase I ever made at Home Goods years ago. I actually bought two of them, and the other one is now brown. I digress….(but that’s because I’m edge. You know. Sixty plus and all.)
Then I cut out a circle the same size.
Using a glue stick, I just pasted it onto the container……
…..and put the poinsettia in it. Voila! The container has gone from fall to winter and fits in with the rest of our Christmas decorations. This is not exactly how I will be using it for the party, but you’ll have to come back next week to see what I do with it. Because the party is tonight, and I haven’t taken the photos yet. Do we have a date? Great.
What a great idea! Have fun! Can’t wait to see the photos.
Please, tell us what desserts you served.
Thanks
Cindi
