I donated a luncheon to a silent auction, and recently the group who purchased it came to enjoy it.
I served a delicious menu, and they ate every bite. There were three couples. Even though the menu of gazpacho, blueberry scones, goat cheese tart with salad, orange pound cake with raspberries and whipped cream, and peach iced tea was somewhat “a ladies who lunch meal,” the men loved it.
It was originally supposed to be a high tea which explains why I served scones. However, it turned into lunch because of schedules.
I layered my grandmother’s dishes over our wedding china (Moonspun by Lenox). I like Grandma’s dishes because I can make them work with the seasons depending on which linens I use.
I have used them in the fall before with a gold linen tablecloth, rattan chargers, and black napkins. But for this luncheon, I used a white tablecloth and bright yellow napkins. It spoke summer.
Our wedding silver, Royal Danish by International, always is perfect. It’s so nice to know that decisions we made about our silver and china so many years ago are still right.
Since I had arrangements of flowers in other parts of the room, I used some of the teapots from my Hall teapot collection as centerpieces.
I teamed my green depression glass goblets with our wedding crystal.
The green brought out the green in the dishes.
The ladies and the men appreciated the mixture of old and new.
Even the lemons cooperated with the color scheme. I love my little Royal Danish lemon fork.
I always enjoy helping organizations raise funds. Hosting a luncheon or tea is a great way to do it and have fun at the same time.

I love this table! Do you know company and/or pattern of your Grandmother’s dishes?
I am visiting from TT. I would have loved to win this prize. Your menu sounds delicious. I adore goat cheese and scones. Beautiful table. Love your grandmother’s dishes. xo
The dishes are by Homer Laughlin, but the name of the pattern isn’t mentioned on the bottoms.
I was pretty sure they were when I saw them. Without being able to look at them closely, I cannot identify the pattern. Most older HL did not have pattern names, just numbers. If you can post what the markings are on the back, I can tell you something about them (should be a combination of letters and numbers).
looks beautiful!
Your grandmother’s dishes are wonderful and so versatile with all the colors in them. What a great idea to donate a luncheon at a fundraiser. Very doable!
The dishes are just beautiful! And what a wonderful idea to donate a luncheon. We spend much of our time doing volunteer work…wish someone would give us a lunch! heehee! Enjoy your day!
Beautiful table setting! I especially love your silver collection-gorgeous and elegant!
There are some many details on this table that caught my eye. I love your Grandmother’s dishes and your silver. Your teapots are charming and that green depression glass is wonderful. I love how the light shines through the glass and radiates the glass pattern onto the plate below. So nice of you to donate a luncheon and what a great idea. Dianne
How nice to donate a luncheon — I do that as well and it’s a great way for a charity to earn some money. YOur menu sounded really good. And your table was lovely — love the teapots!
Your grandmother’s dishes are a true treasure. They go so well with your other beautiful things. I like to donate luncheons for charity auctions, too. I have two hanging out there that I keep waiting for the winners to give me a date. I look forward to creating their special parties. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

Beautiful table you have created in laying those great dishes. Love the green depression glasses too.
