Hello, everyone! Many times Mom will see a photo of our home or come for a visit and see new things that I have done but have not mentioned. Then she asks me why I haven’t bothered to put them on the blog so you can see progress and updates that we make. So, today I am sharing a little update we made in our kitchen. It’s time to show you our new kitchen stools.
(before)
For several years we had metal stools at our kitchen bar. We had them in our Syracuse home and just used them here in Charlotte, too. The metal stools were practical for children because they cleaned easily, but they were very, very cold. Also, they did not have backs on them so they weren’t very comfy. We wanted something warmer and easier to sit in.
I found these navy blue stools here and really liked them. Now, you might be thinking that cloth stools with a five-year-old and a two-year-old might not be very practical. So far, they are doing okay. We eat dinner in the dining room each evening, and so the stools are used for breakfast and lunch. I sprayed them really well with a fabric protector when we bought them, and if Little Miss does a craft project, I might put a towel down for her to sit on. Typically, we try to keep the projects in the play room. Google is still in a high chair, and Little Miss is pretty neat with her table manners, so it’s all good.
These stools are so much more comfortable than the metal ones, and they really were a good choice for us. They have warmed up the space and provided a comfy spot for our family to eat breakfast and lunch. They tie in well with the navy blue leather sofa we have in the adjoining living room.
Also, I like a combo of black and blue, and so, I am happy with the way they look with our black counter tops.
The counter tops aren’t my favorite, but they aren’t going anywhere any time soon.
Oh, and while we are in the kitchen, let me give an update on the faux marble top I added to our island. I wrote about it in this post. (You can also see the before of our kitchen in that post.) After a few years of daily use, the only problem we are having is that there is a little fraying on the edges. That could have something to do with my application. Other than that, it looks as good as the day I added it.
Do you have bar stools? Are they padded or are they wood or metal?
Cheers!
