Hello, everyone. We have a product review for you today. This is not a sponsored post, but I wanted to give you a review of our new Ruggable rug. You might be wondering was is a Ruggable. Well, it is a rug that comes in two pieces. There’s a bottom piece that is like a rug pad with some traction on the bottom to prevent slipping and sliding. There’s a separate top part that provides the color. The whole idea is that when the top gets dirty, you can lift it up, toss it in the washing machine to get clean again, and then put it back on top of the pad.
Here’s my reasoning behind the purchase. Our entry is open to the dining room, which has a neutral seagrass rug from Ballard Design. Then in another part of the big space, there is an antique kilim rug that we bought on a week-end trip to Turkey. You can read about that trip here. Since we moved in, I have had an Oriental rug in front of the door. I felt there was too much pattern going on and wanted a neutral rug to go there.
Of course, neutral means light in color. I knew that foot traffic would cause a lightly colored rug to get dirty very quickly. So, when I first saw Ruggables in an ad, I thought they might be the solution to my problem. Eventually, I ended up buying a runner rather than a regular rug because a 3 x 5 was too small for the space, and the 5 x 7 size was just a tad too big.
Do I like it? So far, the answer is yes. My husband runs his businesses from home, and sometimes some of his workers stop by in their dirty work clothes/shoes for meetings. Just the other day, there were some big ole smudges from said work shoes. I simply vacuumed the spots, and they came out.
Then this week a pipe in our basement broke, and the plumber stopped by to fix it. Now, our plumber has never bothered to wipe his feet, even though he know it drives me crazy. I was able to vacuum his dirty smudges away, too. So, I haven’t had a need to throw the top part in the washer. However, I do get the feeling that it is resilient to dirt and won’t need to be laundered as much as I thought.
I think that a Ruggable would be perfect for anyone with children at home and/or pets. The patterned rugs would show even less dirt than my neutral one, and so, washing them would not be needed very often. Plus, think of the piece of mind you would have knowing that you can just wash the big rug under the dining room or kitchen table. Or you can wash the runner you have in the mud room.
So, friends, that’s my review of our Ruggable rug. I hope this helps any of you who are thinking about buying one.
Take care.
