Even though we have not officially lived in our house a year yet, change is in the air. I know….I know…..You might be thinking what else is there to do. Well, this project has always been in the game plan, but we just needed to stop and take a breath. Now that the dust has settled (literally), and the pain of remodeling has been forgotten, we are going to add shelves and cabinets to the fireplace wall in the dining room.
Right now we have an old armoire on the left side of the fireplace……
and a chair and side table on the right side. And clearly, friends, it is unbalanced, and that lack of symmetry really bothers me. It is time for the change to happen.
My friend and designer, Debra Hupman, who designed our kitchen and bathrooms has been here to measure and will draw up the plans. We are simply going to have shelves on the top and cabinets in the Shaker style for the bottom. We have Shaker style cabinets throughout the house and want to continue with that.

We are going for a look similar to this……

Or this.
The process will take a couple of months. The shelves and cabinets will be probably be installed right after we return from our big upcoming trip. At least, that’s my hope. I will keep you posted.
Take care.

I LOVE the armoire and the chair side table and lamp. The lack of symmetry makes the room interesting. The shelves will look great too, but a little too matchy-matchy for me. I’m sure once you get them staged they will look beautiful because you have excellent taste.

Thanks for the input, Pam. I will have to buy some things for the shelves which will be fun.

Love it and knew it was only a matter of time. Will you use the armoire elsewhere? I have a thought.
Janette says
Beth, I am all ears because I don’t have a clue what to do with it.
