Hello, everyone. Do you find yourself really focusing on the art in the background in magazine and blog photos? I sure do. I think the art in a room can be the one single factor that will make a so-so room be an extraordinary room. It seems that my art style preferences change every now and then. A style that I might not have liked five years ago might become art that I love now. For instance, I recently became a fan of contemporary art. I love, love seeing a contemporary piece in a very traditional room. It’s that whole yin and yang thing. I have added some contemporary art that we created in different rooms of our home, and recently I added a new piece to the upstairs hallway.
I painted our foyer and upstairs hall right before Christmas. The color is now Cotton Grey, which is a Behr color, but I had it mixed by Sherwin Williams. (Jordan has this color throughout her entire downstairs, and I fell for it.)
With the new paint color, I thought it would be nice to have some new art also. That was especially important since everything else was staying the same. I love how it turned out, and it is a somewhat different technique than we have used before. I will show you how I did it in another post. The colors I selected for this piece are used throughout the upstairs, and so, this painting in the hall ties them all together.
This is the view we see every time we go up our stairs. I love the boldness of the painting, and the way the colors blend together. What do you think?
Thank you so much for stopping in.

I don’t know anything about art but it certainly looks good in your space with your things. I love that rug also.
