I have been a fan of Johnson Brothers Blue Willow dishes for quite a while. Santa heard about this and brought a set to me for Christmas. Thanks, Santa Baby. My 90-year-old mother-in-law spent a few days last week on her way to Florida, and I thought it would be the perfect occasion to use the dishes for the first time.
I always like to use blue and white during the cold months of winter because blue is a cool color, but it is also a comforting color. I had a great time pairing the traditional design of the new plates with some vintage things my mother-in-law has given me. For instance, the linen tablecloth belonged to her late sister.
And so did the wine goblets. They looked just fine beside the blue water goblets that I bought at the dollar store a few years ago.
If anyone out there recognizes this pattern, could you please let me know? I did some research when she first gave them to me years ago, but I never was able to identify it.
I just love looking at and using these plates. They are such classics.
I used silver napkin rings that were made from old spoons. They were tarnished, but I kind of like how the patina looked with everything else, and so, I didn’t polish them. These napkin rings were a gift from my sister-in-law who is Grandma’s daughter.
For the centerpiece I just used some mums from another flower arrangement and tucked them into a blue vase and added some white votive candles. Our menu was full of comfort foods for a cold January night. We had a spinach salad with feta cheese, dried cranberries, and pine nuts paired with a homemade balsamic vinegar, Bisquick chicken pot pie, and chocolate cake. It was all very tasty.
All of us really enjoyed it. Our son was in town also, and since Grandma is a great lover of card games, we topped off the evening with a new game called “Three-Thirteen.” Have you played it? It is so much fun!
Thanks for stopping in.
Take care.

Hello;
I have collected Depression era glass since I was a very small child. I now have a massive collection of all types of glass, as I enjoy it and I know what I am doing.
(I collect numerous things, and I know what I am doing price wise, also)
Your glass is quite old looking, and I would say that it is from the Depression era, but to me it looks like it is considered to be “Better Glass.”
That is the term which is commonly used, for glass which is from the time frame, but more than likely, it was not a premium type of glassware. Hence, it was not given away with another purchase as depression glass commonly was.
I wish that you could ask your Grandmother about this, and see if she has any ideas?
I also wished to mention, that to me the glass looks as though it could have come from Europe. When I have traveled in Europe, I have seen countless pieces of Depression glass which are not in any books, and are most difficult to find out information about!!
On that note, I would say that your glasses came from France, as the last time that I was in France I saw some which look very much like yours.
I hope that this is of some help to you. If you can get any other pictures, I would appreciate looking at them, and I will try to do some research for you, if you wish.

Thank you so much for the information, Sunny. I love that they might have come from France since I’m so crazy about that country.

Hey Jordan;
You are more than Welcome. I have also Loved France too, ever since I first traveled there. I felt like I had lived there before!!! 🙂
Please send me more pictures if possible, and I will try to research the glasses for you, as they are so Beautiful!!
I still feel that they are definitely from Europe due to how they look.
Also, Please… Are the stems of the glass light weight or heavy? is the top of the glass when filled with wine or without heavy?
How deep are the grapes and vines? Does it look like it is engraved or was it made using a mold?
Can you catch your fingernail in the grapes or is it raised?
Sorry, so many questions as the glasses are just too Lovely, and are so old!!
Thank-You, and Take Care.

I love you Blue Willow, I have some too. The dollar store glasses are very pretty. If you need to identify your vintage stems, send a picture to Replacements in Greensboro NC. They are the best ,the will identify them for you. Thanks for a lovely tablescape!

Jacqueline, I have already sent photos to Replacements, and they were unable to identify the pattern. However, one of our readers has offered to help, and I just need to take some more photos and send them to her. Thanks for your comment.
