How to make your own Cornhole board

By Jordan | Projects

Yankee and I love games and today I am going to share how to make your own cornhole board. You can read about that here.  Now that summer has finally arrived here in upstate New York,  we wanted to have some games we could play outside with our friends and neighbors.

Cornhole gained its popularity as a pre-game game at football tail gate parties.  They are really popular in the south, as is tail gating.  Our northern neighbors have not played this before, but we are about to show them how it’s done.

Our first step was to find directions on how to DIY our own game.  We love the website “This Old House.”  They have so many good tips and tutorials on how to do things.  We found a great video and tutorial on how to build the game there.  Click here for the link.

These are the basic supplies that we picked up from the hardware store.

Yankee is teaching me how to use the power tools, and I made the cuts for the legs.

Sorry for the messy table, but this is our work table in the basement.  Here you can see the frame of the board.

We traced out the circle for the top of the board.  This is where the bean bag goes in so a player can score points.

We decided to decorate  his and her boards.  Our theme was our colleges.  I graduated from the University of Georgia, and Yankee graduated from the United States Naval Academy.

This is my finished product.  Yankee still has to add the Navy star to his board, but that hasn’t stopped us from playing.  Anytime it is nice, we are out playing a good game of cornhole.

Do you have any summer games you like to play?

Cheers!

You guys are so industrious and, talented!! I love all games too. Card games, board games, yard games, tennis, golf, etc. One of my favorite summer games is Bocce. We have courts at our condo in FL but you don’t need courts to play. You can play in any yard, park, or other grassy area.
Enjoy spring and glad you all are thawed out enough up there to be outside and have fun!!
