I mentioned not long ago that I was in Ohio for work, and while there I was able to spend some time with my friend Amanda. We were best friends in high school, and we were in each other’s weddings. You might recall that we showed a kitchen tour in Amanda’s last home over a year ago. Well, she has moved into another home, and this one is even better. So while visiting, I decided to take some photos because her style and home are beautiful. Enjoy the eye candy.
One thing I really love about her house was the floor plan and layout. The moment you walk in, there is a very open foyer. I loved the stairs and how they were not typical.
The dining room is on the right of the house once you enter. Amanda added the beadboard, and it is wall paper. Even after touching it I still didn’t believe it was wall paper because it looked and felt so real. I need to try out wall paper and do this beadboard paper somewhere in my house. (You can see how my mom used it in her office/pantry here.)
She had the table made by a local man in the area, and I love the dark stain color.
This hutch has been in her husband’s family for years. It has been in every house they have owned, and it has looked in amazing in every house. I can’t imagine moving it each time.
Here is Amanda’s tea pot display. I know my mom would be proud. Amanda has always been a fan of my mom’s tea pots even when we were in high school. I am glad to see she is starting her own collection.
This chair works perfectly in the corner.
Amanda bought her monogram on Etsy and then ironed them on the parson chairs. It is a great way to dress up a room.
The next room on the tour is her husband’s office. This is a working office at night for Amanda’s husband who is an attorney. (Amanda is an attorney, too, but instead of practicing law, she has started a design business.)
Mike, Amanda’s husband loves golf, and these prints were perfect for any man’s office. By the way, the wall color is Naval by Sherwin Williams.
I just took my first golf lesson the other day so I am now really enjoying this golf art.
Now, this is my favorite room in the whole house – the living room. They added the stone to the fireplace when they moved in, and I think it makes such a great statement.
The sofa and chairs are just beautiful. Oh, and did I mention Amanda has three boys ages six, four and three?
I love how her home has an adult feel, and yet her children can sit on the sofa and chairs and look at a book. They have their play area, but the whole house is not over run with kid things. Everyone needs a place to relax and this works for their whole family.
Again, just because you have young children doesn’t mean you can’t have a light colored sofa.
The style of this chair is so fun, and it is really comfortable.
For years I have been eyeing that dough bowl. I love the size, and you can do so much with it. I keep trying to convince her to sell it to me, but she is still holding onto it at the moment.
This room is so large with a high ceiling, but Amanda wanted to have some sort of curtains. She is crafty and bought drop cloths and stenciled away.
Don’t they look amazing?
The piano sits on the other side of the living room. Her oldest has started piano lessons, and I even had the chance to hear him play. It was fun to see he is using the same piano book that I used when I took piano.
Off the back of the house Amanda has a wonderful screened in porch that I have a feeling will get a lot of use.
I love this large pitch fork.
This hutch is from Amanda’s grandmother and it it also has worked well in all her homes. I also think it has been painted at least 4 times and each time it looks great for where it is located.
Now on to the room everyone is waiting for – the kitchen. This kitchen had so much natural light. It was wonderful.
Painting the island is one of Amanda’s future projects.
The rolling pins look great in her kitchen.
We have another view of the kitchen. I want to thank Amanda for letting me share her home with you all. I bet we will get to show you more of it in the future. It’s hard to believe they have lived there for less than a year. I hope you enjoyed the house tour and thank you for reading.
Cheers!
