Hello 2 Seasons readers! I’m Amber from the design blog, Simple Dwellings, and I am so excited about guest posting here today!
I met Jordan in person, when we realized we live near each other and share so many of the same interests. I always love stopping by this blog to see what new project Jordan and Janette have up their sleeves. As someone who loves anything and everything design related, I am constantly thinking about what to change around my house next and how to make our home a more fun place to be. Sometimes, it’s a small change with a big impact. Recently, I have been thinking about how adding pattern, even in subtle ways, can dramatically change a space, without breaking the bank. A room in your home does not have to be completely remodeled to fall in love with it again! Below are some examples of how one dose of pattern can go a long way…
This hallway still takes my breath away! They are my mom’s stairs and she decided to make her foyer more fun and interesting by adding a chevron pattern to every other stair riser. To see how she tackled this project, visit this site HERE.
In my own home, I gave an antique secretary desk a new pattern by adding floral wrapping paper to the back of the shelves.
Before…
and After…
A roll of wrapping paper from Target can go a long way! The best part about this project is that the paper can be removed without damaging the wood, when I want to switch up the pattern! To see how I completed this simple DIY, go HERE.
Also in this space, I balanced the traditional secretary with a modern art piece, created by myself! I just took a plain canvas board and some leftover paint to add some modern art to the room! {And as a side note, if I can create art, anyone can!} 🙂
Thanks so much for having me today! 🙂
