Hi everyone! Today we are happy to share a guest post from another mother/daughter blogging duo. Ellen and Jenna from My Mother, My Daughter, My Friend have recently started blogging, and we had the opportunity to meet with them over the phone. They both were so sweet, and we are excited to feature them since Sunday is Mother’s Day. Please stop by and check out their blog about fostering love and understanding among mothers and daughters.
Since we are getting close to Mother’s Day, Ellen and Jenna have some great ideas for mother’s day gifts you can make together. Here is their cute picture so you can feel you can know them more.
Remember those Mother’s Day gifts you made in grade school? The ones covered with hand-prints and hearts and flowers? They were special because you created them with love, and you knew they made Mom happy because she always exclaimed, “You made this?!!”
Even though we’re both adults now, things haven’t changed much. For years, we’ve had great fun making each other gifts for holidays and special occasions.
A hand-made, DIY gift is still the most special type of Mother’s Day present – and it doesn’t have to be difficult to make! Here are some gift ideas:
Create your own Mother’s Day card using colored pens, markers and calligraphy pens. Browse the card aisle in the drug store for inspiration.
Put together a customized photo book with Snapfish ® or Shutterfly ®, choosing pictures, text, layouts, backgrounds and embellishments to make it your own.
Search the internet for “paint your own pottery” to find a local studio where you can choose a ceramic object to paint in Mom’s favorite colors.
If you do have a creative talent like painting, sculpture, or DIY decorating give one of your treasures to Mom or make something special for her.
And if you don’t have a creative talent but know someone who does, commission something from her.
Tell Mom in person or in a hand-written note how much you love and appreciate her. Make it personal! This is probably the easiest and most meaningful Mother’s Day gift of all.
DAUGHTERS: What type of DIY Mother’s Day gift(s) have you made for your mom? Let us know!
Thanks ladies for these great ideas. I remember one year in school I made a recipe holder for mom. I know she used it for years.
I hope you all will stop by their blog and say hi.
