Slowly this year we have been making some changes in our courtyard to give it more of that Ralph Lauren vibe. It all started when we had the dirty tree removed.
Removing the tree that was shedding something at least 10 months of the year sort of gave us our wings.
The tree also left a pretty big root system, but our friend took care of removing it.
Then it looked like this, and I came up with a bright idea.
Ever since we have lived there, the grill has been taking up walking space in our courtyard. I decided to create a little platform and move the grill to the space where the tree used to be.
I bought some 12 by 12 pavers and filled in the area with them. It only took nine of them. Mr. Right and I decided that when a brick mason comes this fall to do some work in our neighbor’s courtyard that we will have him lay some permanent bricks here so it will look like the rest of the courtyard.
Mission accomplished. Do you see the grill? No? Exactly…
The grill is now tucked away in the corner and out of the way. It is more convenient for me now when we are grilling, and it is closer to the table.
Much better.

Your new rearrangement was a perfect move for convenience and traffic flow! Nice job – I would love to spend time in this secluded courtyard.
