It doesn’t take much to make your heart go pitter-patter in February when roses are involved – especially when those roses are on special at Kroger and you buy them for yourself.
I found these sweet little miniatures and knew they would be just the thing to brighten up our foyer table.
I think silver is like jewelry for a room, so I tucked the bundle into a nicely polished silver sugar bowl, sans lid, propped a silver tray on a plate stand, and dug out a sweet little Valentine post card from my antique stash. Voila – my Valentine decorations are complete!!!
Since I just booked my annual trip to the Netherlands, I thought this little lad in his wooden shoes was quite appropriate. Of course, I don’t know how you send Valentine greetings in Dutch. My Dutch vocabulary is limited to sinaasappelsap which means orange juice, and that’s not romantic at all.
Who knows? Maybe he is Hans Brinker, and his silver skates are tucked into that bag!!! But the important thing here is that there is a Valentine greeting over his head.
Monday Jordan showed you her contemporary approach to Valentine decor, but around these parts, we’re sticking to traditional. Any way you look at it, love is in the air.

Oh your roses are just beautiful!
Jewelry for a room – perfect. This little arrangement is just beautiful.
Love the vignette! The sweet Valentine is a pretty addition to your table. I love all the silver and the tiny roses are just the perfect size. Happy Valentien’s setting!

Well, we would have never known that your word was “orange juice”, if you had not told us. We might have thought it was something very romantic! Wish I could make an annual trip to The Netherlands – sounds like fun. Love your vignette – silver is one of my obsessions!!
I can almost say Good Morning in Dutch, but it has a throaty noise that sounds like a gag, and I just can’t bring myself to do it..
I agree with Pondside – jewelry for the room, I liked that. This is just a gorgeous display. I am getting out my silver and give it a polish.
Polishing silver is therapeutic. I guess we can say silver is cheaper than a “shrink.” That makes the money on it justifiable but not tax deductible.
Silver and roses are always romantic in my mind. Your vignette is lovely, especially with that charming little valentine. Happy Valentine’s Day to you, and enjoy your trip! ~ Sarah
