Yesterday we were talking about red neck wine glasses here at The 2 Seasons, and today I’m writing about my visit to see the Christmas decorations in the East End of the White House. We’re all over the place. I am in DC to visit our son and to hear Ina Garten (the Barefoot Contessa) speak tomorrow night. I wrote about it here.
I am actually going there today, and I’ve been told that inside photos aren’t allowed. So, I searched on the web and found some photos from past years.
The White House gingerbread house is the decoration I am most excited to see.
Catching a glimpse of the real Bo would be a thrill, too. There’s a very cute video on YouTube showing Bo inspecting this year’s decorations. You can see it here.
This is the china room. Wouldn’t we all love to have a china room? Once upon a time, this room was the laundry room.
Whoever designed the Red Room definitely had Christmas in mind. This room was originally designed by Dolley Madison, and the furniture was bright yellow.
Simple but elegant wreaths adorn the windows.
I am crazy about these wreaths. They would work in our mudroom that has a wall of windows very much like this.
Wow!
This is one we can all copy very easily.
Last year Jordan and I along with our family received a private tour of the West Wing on a cold, rainy Washington day. It’s a real thrill to be able to see the place known as The Peoples’ House. (And as an aside, I know I look petite in this photo, but I’m 5 feet 8….Just sayin’)
Take care.
All photos except the last one are from here.

Have so much fun!!! I loved seeing the decorations when I was in High School. Love the video of Bo. I know Gracie would never be that calm looking at Christmas decorations and she would bark up a storm if there was a huge Gracie with a Christmas hat.

Wow, what a wonderful experience!
Again, wow, you really do have some seriously tall people in your family! At 5’2″, how do you think I would look in your photo? LOL!!!
