A few weeks ago Mom showed you an update that she made in her pantry (also here, and here, ) when she built a storage unit that would also hold her microwave.
By adding this unit, she was able to get the microwave off of her pantry counter because she needs that space for her bake station. The baskets also added storage for various pantry needs.
When Mr. Spring and I were there this past week-end, Mom had set aside a project for us. It only seemed fair since she does so much for us when she visits. She had acquired four Queen Anne style furniture legs from a nearby shop when it went out of business. Her plan was to attach the legs to the bottom of the stand so that it would then be even with her countertop. She had already spray painted the legs a fresh white, and all we had to do was attach them. The first thing Mr. Spring did was drill a hole into the bottom. He learned that it was a very thin and hollow faux wood. He decided to add anchors to hold the screws better.
He used extra long screws and doubled their strength by also applying Gorilla Glue.
Thirty minutes later all four of the legs had been attached…….
…..and the top of the stand was even with the countertop, just as it should be.
The curved legs add a whimsical touch to the otherwise contemporary lines.
What a great way to add space and adding the feet on the bottom of the cabinet gave it just that extra special touch! 🙂
