I know the weather has been mild in most parts of the country. The same is true here, though right now as I look out, we do have snow on the ground. I can’t complain. We had wonderful summer weather in Argentina, and I hope to post some pictures soon. I am off traveling for work the rest of the week, but I will do my best to get them to you soon.
In the meantime I wanted to share a little bit of spring that we have in our house.
For my birthday my mother-in-law sent me a box filled with bulbs and dirt so we could have some spring during the dreary winter months. It was such a thoughtful gift. I loved it and was so excited to plant the bulbs.
The bulbs came with dirt, but the directions said I could also plant them with just rocks and water. I decided to do both. I bought a large glass container and some river pebbles at Joann’s. The container needs to be tall and heavy so the weight of the stems won’t cause it to fall over. They can get pretty tall.
After just a few days, they started to grow. I was afraid that they would all bloom when I was on vacation.
But Mother Nature decided to cooperate. This pretty scene was waiting for me when I walked in the door. I was thrilled to see some pretty and good-smellin’ blooms. Now I have these beautiful flowers blooming all around my house.
Look at those sweet little faces.
I like being able to see the roots. It is kind of a little lesson in horticulture.

Your blooms are so beautiful! What a sweet MIL you have……think she could give mine some pointers? LOL

Love the idea of planting them in a mason jar. So smart (and cute)! I plant a bunch each year for Christmas, but I have to say that I don’t care for the smell. But they are pretty!
Hope you have safe travels.
Those are so pretty and what a very nice gift.
I adore paperwhites! What a wonderful and thoughtful gift that your mother-in-law gave you.
I can smell their lovely scent. Beautiful pics. Such a great gift. God is a great designer.
HOW much fun to grow your own fresh flowers. I really want to do this.
I love paperwhites…I never grew them in water though..I think I will do that next time for sure…They are beautiful!
What a lovely idea.
We excavated the front garden last summer and most of my bulbs
went to landfill or behind MR DH garage. I t will be interesting
to see if they come up this spring.
I know that put a smile on your face when you walked in! Love them, pinned them 🙂 Have a great week!
