Kids In A Candy Store

By Janette | Out and About, Travel

Well,  we aren’t actually kids, but Mr. Autumn and I had a chance to go to an adorable candy store on our last trip to France.

We were high in the mountains in the village of Besse.

It’s located eight miles from a ski resort and is loaded with charm.

We took an afternoon stroll to check out the shops.  I had been bitten by a dog on my leg the day before, and I needed to work out the soreness.

This little candy store looked charming, and so, we went in.

It was filled with all kinds of sweets.

I was surprised that everything was within touching distance to its customers.  I guess their health department packaging/display requirements aren’t as strict as they are in the USA.

They had all kinds of chocolates – milk, dark, and white.  We bought some of each.  We needed the energy since we were on a three-week bicycling trip through France.

This bowl of cherries is made of marzipan.  I know.  They do look real.

These candies are in different flavors.

This bowl of miniature potatoes is chocolate – kind of like malt balls.

The label let us know the “potatoes were grown made in the region.

These candies were tempting.

This packaging reminded me of tin lunch boxes.

These “fruits” tasted like Peeps.  Yummy!!!

Even the little chalk board signs were cute.

After we made our purchases, we continued our walk.  We had some calories to work off.

Take care.

I love the special small experiences one has off the beaten track – seeing the small towns, finding a wonderful candy store (if it were in North America it would be a destination!) and strolling through quiet streets.
I love the clay pots of geraniums marching up the steps!

What a wonderful french village. I would love to hear more about your bicycle trips. How you get your bikes there, do you have a guide, how do you take your gear when you ride, ect. What wonderful memories you must have from all your trips.
