Usually we feature a recipe on Fridays, but today I want to show you a gadget that you need to order ASAP so it will get there in time for Thanksgiving.
I was in New York City this week, and Wednesday’s New York Times had an entire section of just prepping for Thanksgiving. It had wines, recipes, to-do lists, questions/answers and handy helpers.
This little item, known as a Grease Separator is by Amco Swing-A-Way and is available at Sur La Table. As soon as I read the article, my friend and I rushed to the nearest S.L.T., and they were selling these gadgets briskly, to say the least.
It works like this: You pour the drippings from any baked meat through the strainer on the top. The greasy part separates and floats, and you pull a handle that releases the grease-free broth from the bottom. Genius.
IT was priced at $14.95. I am not really a gadget person because you have to store it, but this is one that got me. So, I got it. I think it will work so much better than those cups that have the spout on the bottom.
Let us know if you succeed in getting one of them and what you think.
Take care.
