Each year the Blue Grass Trust, a non-profit organization here in Lexington formed to oversee the preservation of historic properties, has an antique and garden show attended by high-end vendors from around the country. Last week I attended the show, which was followed by a luncheon with famed decorator Carlton Varney. Hearing Mr. Varney speak about his years working with Dorothy Draper was a real treat, and I will write about him later this week.
Meanwhile, enjoy some of the photos I took at the show. I tried to include a variety of items so you can see how diverse the selection was.
This sweet little black and white transferware plate was only $12.00 It would make the perfect soap dish. Many vendors try to offer items in a variety of price ranges.
I loved both of these tole trays.
One lady had a huge selection of vintage linens.
There was something for everyone – even the sportsman.
These fishing baskets had been well-cared for.
This cow painting was way over my budget, but I L.O.V.E.D. it.
This champagne ice bucket was $4,500. This vendor had another one for sale for – hold on to your horses – $48,OOO. (Yes, you read that right. There are three zeroes). I think I’ll stick to ebay.
Large pieces of furniture like this corner cabinet were also for sale.
What baby wouldn’t look adorable in this very old christening dress?
The show even offered garden vignettes.
I was excited to see these espaliered trees. The courtyard at our new place has one espaliered apple tree, and I plan to add a pear tree.
