See how we transform a pitiful little table into the perfect drinks table for our family. It’s a great before and after.
I was watching a Youtube tour of one of designer Bunny Williams’ home. In the tour, she mentioned that every chair should have a place to put a drink. She specifically called it a drinks table. Aha, I thought! There was a chair in our family room, and it needed exactly that – a drinks table. I assumed that I would have to buy a new one, but I was wrong. I had lunch with my girlfriends a few weeks ago at a local tea room, and the adjoining gift shop was going out of business. Not only were they selling their merchandise, but the display items were also on sale. As soon as I saw this pitiful table for just $5.00, I knew that I could make it work as my drinks table.
The Before
Here’s the before. It is a very solid table, but all of the dings is why it was just $5.00.

The During
I spray painted it and gave it two coats. It went on very smoothly with this great Rustoleum paint. Also, the comfort grip was fantastic. If you do much spray painting, then you MUST get one. Find it here.
I decided that I would cut out a piece of wrapping paper that has a burlap vibe for the top. I also had a piece of glad custom cut to fit on top of it.
The After
And here she is. This is the perfect size for a drinks table and is just perfection.
I used a flat black paint on it, but it still has a slight sheen.
If and when I tire of the burlap look, then I can easily replace it with another piece of wrapping paper or a piece of fabric.
Since we already had the spray paint and the wrapping paper, this table project cost only $27.00. That’s $5.00 for the table and $22.00 for the glass top. I am very happy with the look of the drinks table, and I think Bunny would like it, too.
