While Mom is working away on her volunteer vacation in the Philippines, I thought it would be fun to tally up the the votes and share the painted brick poll results with you all. Now, technically, this wasn’t a poll. However, Mom asked for you to share your opinions when we published a post about painting her brick back porch/enclosed breezeway. Thanks to all of you who gave us your opinion through texts, emails, and comments. We love hearing from you and knowing your thoughts. If you aren’t sure what I am talking about, you can read the post here. And feel free to offer up your opinions still. I know Mom would want to know them.
Not only did you all tell her to paint or not to paint, but some of you also offered up really good suggestions that she had not considered before.
So here are the result:
Paint that brick: 35 percent
Leave it alone: 55 percent
There were several suggestions on trying a German schmear or a white wash technique. Also, some of you suggested painting part of the wall or just one wall.
Mom did get a quote, and it came it less than she thought it would, but she is still on the fence. Maybe she will make a decision while she is away. We will let you know as soon as she knows, but meanwhile, thank you all again for letting us know your thoughts.
Cheers!

I still say leave it alone. One of the reasons for having brick is that it doesn’t have to be painted… until you paint it the first time…. then you you are stuck painting it forever. I like the industrial look of unpainted brick. There are lots of things that can be done to change the look of the porch other than painting the brick. Maybe paint that door, change the rug, get a different mirror…

I LOVED the natural brink. It’s warm and inviting. Like Tuscany.

I agree with the 55%. Don’t paint. The color brick she has is warm and very pretty.
