Hey everyone! Happy Friday. I know that we always have a recipe for you on Fridays here on the blog, but although today’s post isn’t a recipe, it is food related. We are sharing four things that we recently added to our kitchens, and we think you need them, too. With the holiday/cooking season starting next week, you will get a lot of use out of each of these items. And the nice thing is that if you order them today, they will be here before Thanksgiving. That’s a win, win!!! I am not a gadget girl. I only want things in my kitchen that I will use on a regular basis. So,these items made the cut and made their way into my kitchen. That is saying a lot. And remember that by using our links, it is no additional cost to you, but we earn a small commission that helps support our blog.
Food Scale
I have used a food scale for years so that I could easily measure out recipes that were listed in grams. And wouldn’t you know that when I needed it one day, my old scale was broken and couldn’t be revived. So, I ordered this scale which was highly rated. It arrived just in time. When I was prepping food for the afternoon tea I served this week (photos of that soon), I made French macarons, and the recipe was in grams. Luckily, my new scale had arrived the day before. No worries, because it also measures in ounces. Even if you don’t use one frequently, it’s always nice to have a digital scale on hand when you do, and this one is less than 10 dollars. You can order it here.
Milk Frother
I am not a big coffee drinker, but when I do, it’s either a latte or a cappuccino. When I was in France, I had a cappuccino every day and wanted the option of drinking one on a whim here at home. I bought this milk frother for my milk, and it is a game changer. While my coffee is brewing (we have this Keurig), I heat milk in the microwave. Then by using this frother, the milk gets nice and foamy in about 15 seconds. (It took me longer the first time until I got the hang of it.) Also, this would be a great stocking stuffer or a gift for a teacher, friend, or office coworker. It’s less than 15 dollars. You can buy it here.
Three Tier Cake Stand
What was I thinking? I have been serving afternoon tea for years, but yet, I didn’t have a three tier cake stand to serve all of the goodies on. I didn’t want to deal with storing one because it would take up square footage and possibly get broken. Then I learned that they come apart and store in the flat box they come in!!! I immediately ordered three. Now, here’s the beauty of this cake stand. You can use it as a one-tier cake stand, a two-tier cake stand, or a three-tier cake stand. Think how pretty Christmas cookies or chocolates would look on it. Or, if you’re like me, you like to pass around little chocolate mints after a holiday meal. The small top tier would be perfect for that. A cake stand just elevates whatever you are serving to another level. And having one with three layers is so versatile. You can buy it here.
Copper Saucepan
In addition to the vintage copper pots that I bought at a flea market in Paris (you saw them on our Instagram), I splurged and bought a new copper saucepan at D’Hilleran. That’s the cookware shop made famous by Julia Child and Ina Garten (The Barefoot Contessa.) It has taken my cooking to a whole new level. I don’t know if I am actually a better cook because of it, but I feel as if I am!!!! It is such a treat to place it on our new stove and cook something. I swear……I feel as if my oatmeal even tastes better. So, if you have ever thought about buying a good copper pot, you won’t be disappointed. You can buy a similar one made in France here.
Take care.
