Hello, everyone. We specifically said my dining room got new chairs because Mom also just bought some new chairs for her dining room. You can see her chairs in this post. Technically, our chairs aren’t new, but they are new to us. I found these great rattan chairs on Craigslist, and after searching for chairs for months, I knew they would work. I bought four of them with padded seats, and the seller “tossed in” one that is missing a pad. We use our dining room every night for dinner, and it was time to switch things up.
These chairs are very solid and give a retro vibe to our somewhat traditional dining room.
I wanted them to have somewhat neutral seat but yet not plain fabric. I found this light-colored animal print at Hobby Lobby and made new covers for them myself. It was easy to replace the covers by just unscrewing the pads, replacing the old fabric with new fabric, stapling it into place, and then screwing the pads back onto the chairs.
We replaced the floral fabric that was on the two end chairs with just off white cotton covers. These parsons chairs are from Ikea, and the new covers are, too.
I always wait until after Little Miss’s birthday to put out our fall decorations, so I will be starting on that later this week. It is still extremely hot here, as it is in lots of the country, so thinking about fall is a challenge.
Here’s a look at the room before. It was time to move on from the rickety white chairs and stained floral chairs.
The dining room is in a little bit of a transition. I have found a large piece of art that I love, and it will be replacing the mirror over the buffet. Also, I am on the lookout for a new rug for under the table. I don’t know yet what it will be, but I’ll know it when I see it. We have let the silver trays on the far wall tarnish on purpose, and I love the patina.
Are you planning any changes in your rooms before holiday season is upon us?
Cheers!

Love the new look! Could you smart ladies do a post on how to clean lamp shades, please?

Kathleen, we will look into that. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
