I have been sharing snippets of the courtyard, and this post showed its status soon after we moved in. But now with the flowers blooming and the shrubs filling out, I thought you might like to see it again. There is one minor thing we need to do, and that will happen next week when our son and son-in-law are in town for the week. We need to level the fountain. Right now it is leaning slightly, and the water level is not even. So, it splashes out some when it is really full, like after a rain. Other than that, it is finished for now……ha, you know how that goes. I already have plans for a fun tweak next year. But right now, lets look at the courtyard’s close up.
This is the view from the porch. The courtyard is a nice size, and it just wraps its arms around us with coziness. The table is an old one that we will always have. I love it, and it is in perfect condition. The umbrella is a few years old but looks brand new. We bought it here, and I highly recommend it. The fountain can be purchased here. The thing that is driving me crazy is that the two bougainvillea plants aren’t growing evenly. We bought them at the same time, and they were the same size. The one on the left is growing, and the one on the right is thinking about it.
The color theme is pink and white, and we planted pink and white begonias and have three pots of pink geraniums.
There are only two varieties of permanent plants. We have two dwarf gingko trees and the rest are boxwoods.
The gingko trees are nice because their leaves turn yellow, and they all drop at one time. We will only have to rake once every fall.
I have two spots for herbs. This area has curly leaf parsley, lemon thyme, basil, rosemary, and dill.
This side has thyme, flat leaf parsley, basil, rosemary, chives, and oregano. I love cooking with fresh herbs and have had an herb garden almost every year since we were married.
We have been eating lots of meals of out there. In fact, we just finished brunch. If you follow us on Instagram, then you saw in our stories that we entertained in the courtyard Friday night, and you saw the tablescape and heard about the menu. We are trying to build up our Instagram following, as is everyone, and if you are on there, please follow us for behind the scenes in our daily lives.
That’s our courtyard. I have always loved courtyards, even when we had a house on 10 acres of land. Let me tell you that we don’t miss that land and all of the work at all. We are very happy right where we are.
Take care.
