Should You Do the FASTer Way to Fat Loss?

Hmmm… should I do the FASTer Way to Fat Loss?  That was my question when I first heard about this boot camp.  I had seen and read about it maybe a year ago, and didn’t think anything of it.  Then when it was getting close to summer, I was pulling out some summer clothes and some seemed a tad tighter than the last year.  Plus, I felt sluggish.   I didn’t have all the energy that I feel I used to have.  I had been going to the gym regularly, and overall we eat pretty healthy.  However, I felt in a rut with my workouts and with food.   I texted some friends, and  we decided to jump on to the boot camp and join this program together.  We are so glad we did.  If you want to lose some weight, build muscle, and eat healthier, then you should try the FASTer Way to Fat Loss, too.

Since starting this program, I have been singing its praises to my friends and have gotten a lot of questions. So, I thought I would do my best to explain the program.  If you do have any questions, please email me or comment. I would be happy to answer them.

What is the FASTER way to Fat Loss?

This is a boot camp style program where you learn about a healthy lifestyle.  You will learn what type of foods to eat and when. You will learn how to turn your body into a FAT burning machine. You will burn fat in those troubled areas.  You will learn how to have workouts that are more effective and efficient. You will gain lean muscle.  Plus, you still eat, and it is a lot.  I am still shocked at how much I have to eat to fuel my body correctly.

Do I have to do the workouts?

The workouts are recommended, and I actually really enjoy them.  Amanda wants your number one focus to be nutrition and rest.  This pyramid is the best way to describe what your body needs.  It is a new way of thinking, but it works.  I was shocked to learn this.

How hard is the program to learn?

Since the main part is nutrition, you will learn all about macros.  I had never heard about macros and was confused in the beginning.  You have a prep week which helps a ton because you learn more about the macros and how to track them.  You use the app My Fitness Pal, and it is an awesome, user-friendly app. It does take some time to get used to the Macros, but you will get the hang of it.  Your goal is to eat the right amount of proteins, fats, and carbs.  I felt it was like a puzzle figuring it all out.  I  realized I had not been eating enough protein or fat.  Who knew?  Then some days I had to eat more to get in my carbs.  Say What? You will also have two days a week of carb cycling (low carb),  and on those days, you do keep your carbs low.  I thought I wouldn’t like low carb days, but I don’t mind them at all.  It is fun to change my eating schedule up a little.   There is a learning curve, but you will get it.  I now see it as a lifestyle. It all makes sense, and I feel amazing.

Do I have to Fast on the program?

Yes, but keep reading.  This was by far my number one reason it took me so long to try this.  I was afraid.  I LOVE breakfast. I love creamer in my coffee.   A bagel was my best friend some days.  However, a big part of the nutrition and the program is intermittent fasting.  I had been reading about it before I even started and was so intrigued.  There are A LOT of benefits for your health when you do intermittent fasting. Think of it more as your eating window.  You eat eight hours out of the day and fast for the other 16.   I never thought I would say this, but the fasting is one of my favorite parts of the program.  The energy I now how is unreal. My mornings are go, go, go.  I don’t feel I have to have a cup of coffee.  I do because I do enjoy the taste but for a few days, we were out of regular Nespresso pods, and I went for the caffeine free and still felt I had a lot of energy.

It was hard at first but after a few days, it just became the norm.  I wasn’t thinking all I want is breakfast or food right now.   The coffee thing did take a little longer to get used to, but having our Nespresso machine helped a lot.  I now really taste the coffee and enjoy it.  This is the number one thing I think others freak out about, but it just becomes second nature.  We do have a treat day on Saturdays, and I usually make my treat a big ole bagel during in my eating window.  When I wake up, I start with a large glass of water (big mason jar) and then have a coffee.  I just drink lots of water, and I enjoy the unsweetened green tea from Trader Joes.  I also have gotten into these BCAA’s to enjoy after my workouts.

Is this only for younger folks?

No, all ages do this program.  In this program, you become part of a smaller Facebook group.   The group is awesome for support and daily check-ins.  It really helps keep you accountable.  Plus, you share recipes and success stories.  My group had all ages and reading their stories was awesome.  I love that there is a support system.  I know some people for different reasons would modify the workouts if something is too intense for their bodies.

Do I have to join Facebook to do the program?

No, but it might be worth it to make a dummy account.  It really is a nice part of the program, but you can do things via email.

You didn’t have much weight to lose.   Does it still work if I have more to lose?

Yes, you will actually see better results.  I wasn’t trying to change my weight. I just wanted to feel confident for summer, have my clothes fit a little better, and find a plan that works for me.  I got all those things, plus I can’t get over how much stronger I feel, how much more energy I have, and my clothes are fitting great.  Others in my FB group had huge results, too.  It is amazing.  A lot of the women who had more to lose mentioned they had tried everything from Keto, Paleo, Weight Watchers, and this is the one that gave them results and was easy to implement as a lifestyle.

How long are the workouts?

Workouts are anywhere from 30-50 minutes.  Working out is my time, and I have to spend some time focusing on me.  I need to be here long term and want to be healthy and feel healthy for me and my family.  I found a way to make it work.  The program has workouts to do at home and workouts for the gym so you do what works best.  They also have beginner workouts if this is all new to you.  I chose the gym workouts ,but my friends whom I did this with did all their workouts at home during nap times or when their littles were in bed for the night.

Do I have to buy shakes or supplements?

No, Amanda, the creator says she likes to eat real food.  I have always liked smoothies and learned I was always short on protein.  These collagen peptides which I started taking a few months ago were very helpful.  Some days I opted for a good ole protein chocolate shake. This is the one I enjoyed and I mixed it with some unsweetened almond milk and frozen banana.  Yum!  It helped me hit my protein goal in my macros.  My friends did not do either of these and were able to hit their goals fine.

Now no one wants to show photos of their stomach, but I think this program is so awesome that I thought I would share mine.

In six short weeks I can feel my abs and can’t wait to see what another six weeks of this program will do.  On a side note you can kind of see my scar on the left of my stomach.  This is from when I had to have surgery for my Crohn’s disease at 17.  I actually forget it is there since it is part of my story.

The tummy did slim down!  I didn’t take a good before to show the change in my arm strength.  When Yankee even pointed out a difference in my arms, I was loving life.  He can’t get over how toned my arms have become.

So there you go.  That’s my opinion of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss.

    Hi Jordan…I like what I read about this program, but I’m nervous I will get frustrated with learning the program and give up…again…and waste my money…again. I just turned 60, have always worked out and try to eat decent…but things have shifted and overall I just feel sluggish and frumpy…not the way I want to feel. I would love to join the group on June 18th, but just want to be sure this program won’t be too overwhelming to learn. Thanks for listening!

      Hi Dani,

      At first, I was confused because it was all new to me so like anything it does feel a little overwhelming but not for long. It’s funny my friends who I did it with felt the same way. Now we joke that we felt that way because it is so easy now. They have a prep week which helps a lot as you can figure a lot of the stuff out. There are calls during the program where you can ask questions and she will answer a lot of other peoples questions which also helps. Prep week is awesome because it gives you time to really learn it and understand more so you feel ready to go week 1. I really worked on the fasting and trying to get in the habit of tracking my food. The macros are like a puzzle and you will get it and it’s not overwhelming. The nice thing is once you are in a FB group there are coaches that answer any questions and help along the way. Plus other doing the program with others is great because we all help out each other. Does this make sense? Any more questions please let me know. The results and energy levels make it worth while!

    Jordan, I cannot thank you enough for convincing me to join FWFL! After round 1, I went from size 12 to my old normal size 10, which I’d worn from high school till about age 50. I turn 57 tomorrow and what a gift to myself to feel slim (for my beautiful curvy body) again! Looking forward to starting my Round 2 on Monday Aug 13 !!
