Adding Blue to Your Life

When my mom was here for Christmas, we started talking decorating and clothes.  Those are topics that often come up in our conversations, along with talking about Little Miss.  We both agreed that we like to have the color blue around us and on us in January.  In fact, in this house I have added more blue and navy than in our last house, and I plan to add more in my everyday style.  I have shared some things I am enjoying in the blue category.

 I don’t know what it is, but I am loving this blue velvet sofa.  I think it would look great in an office.  Too bad it won’t fit in mine. My office isn’t quite big enough for a sofa.  The blue and white ginger jars are really popular, and I lucked out finding some at our local Habitat Restore for $5 each.  I wish I bought more, but I found these at Pier One.  They are really reasonable and are currently on sale. I have also included the ginger jar prints that would be a nice addition to a home.  I think these would look really good in a dining or formal living room.

Another fun way to add blue to your home would be with a pretty striped rug.  This is indoor/outdoor, so you know it is easy to clean.  The pillows are pillow covers from Ikea, and I have two on my sofa, and Mom has two.  I love the size and the quality of these covers.  I have even debated about getting them monogrammed.  I do live in the South, so the more monogramming the better!  The throw looks more black in the picture.  Mom and I both have one in navy, and it is a perfect way to add some blue to my sofa along with the pillows.  It comes in many colors.  I am hoping to get a new sofa soon, and pillows and throws are holding me over till that day happens.

I thought it would be fun to also share some blue in every day style.  The clutch is adorable and from Stella & Dot.  A navy blazer can dress up a look without much effort.  I have the shoes in gray, and Mom has them in black.  They are like walking on air.  I  was excited to see them come in navy.  They are the most comfortable shoes and are awesome for travel.  Looks like it’s time to add another color.  I have been selling Stella & Dot on the side for a few years, and I have grown to love accessories and how versatile their products are.  Here is a fun necklace that is basically four necklaces in one.

 

There you go –  a variety of blues from dark navy to sky blue. We think adding blue to our lives is fun.
