Lamps and pillows……Those are the things that personalize a home. In fact, I have heard that pillows are “stuffed animals” for adults, and I believe that! I love lamps that are somewhat different from the main stream, and that’s why I don’t mind making my own, buying second-hand lamps and upgrading them, or having custom shades made. Recently, I learned how to personalize a lamp with a monogrammed finial. It was such a quick and effortless step to make me love one of my favorite lamps even more.
I ordered the finial in navy, but it comes in loads of colors.
Originally this lamp had a white shade, and then I switched that shade to a brown one and added navy trim. It was in Mr. Right’s office for a while. Then we moved it to the great room, and I decided a new shade would make it even better.
I found a green shade at Ballard Designs, and it just happened to match the colors in the painting that hangs above it.
Then I saw the great finials, and knew owning one (or more) would really be a fun way to add a personal touch.
It’s a tiny little statement that is sort of like an explanation point for the lamp. Even though it hurts my fingers to type this because it’s too early, a finial like this would be a great Christmas gift. It would be a great gift for any special occasion, actually. It took about four weeks for the finial to arrive, so plan early if you want to gift it.
We want to thank all of you who contacted us after the death of my mother-in-law (Jordan’s grandmother.) We really appreciate each and every one of you, and it’s crazy how we make connections over this world wide web. Thanks so much for stopping by each day.
Take care.
How do I order the finial?

What a cute touch to add to a lamp. You are right on thinking that this would make a great gift.
Love the finial….and the blue and green combination of the lamp and shade are one of my favorite color combinations…will have to check out that fabulous finial!
Love the look. Sorry if I missed the link but would you mind sharing your source for the finial?
Lucinda,
It came from a company called Moon and Lola. (www.moonandlola.com)
